Version 2.0.5 is released – Mac OS X Mountain Lion, Lion, Snow Leopard supported

1

The new version brings in full functionality, including the thumbnails display for all versions of Mac OS X – Mountain Lion, Lion and Snow Leopard.
Note that prior installing PSM on Mac OS X you have to install [free] ImageMagick.

If you have ImageMagick installed but PSM still can not show any thumbnail, do the follow:
1. Exit PSM if you run it

2.  Open a terminal window

3. In the terminal, type in

which convert

if you got ImageMagick properly installed you should see something like

/opt/local/bin/convert

in the response.

4. Copy the path to ‘convert’ to the clipboard, including the trailing slash (i.e. in the above case copy ‘/opt/local/bin/’)

5. In any text editor open the following file:

~/Library/ProStockMaster/ProStockMaster.properties

6. find a line showing

im_path=<some-path>

and replace <some-path> with the path to ‘convert’ you saved on clipboard (e.g. /opt/local/bin/)

Verify trailing slash in in place.

7. Start PSM and check the thumbnails

Moving to another hosting next week

0

Since we are getting more and more traffic, ProStockMaster and other Pixamba sites will be moved soon to another hosting thus providing better and faster experience to our customers. ETA: in 2 weeks. I’ll try to keep down time at minimum, tansferring the sites one by one. You may experience temporary outage with PSM web site or with PSM web services, such as in-app keywording. Sorry for any inconvinience and thanks for your patience.

Support Forum Added

PSM gets a new support forum where you can ask your questions and share any tips and tricks on selling photos – whatever you want to share. Find it here: http://prostockmaster.com/forums

Of course the good old Contact Us form is still in the same place and I am always happy to hear from you whatever option you chose.

PSM service outage

2

So when I was walking in South Alps, France the sysadmins at my hosting provider decided that my sites consume too much computing power on a shared server. So they simply switched them all off at once sending me an email about that. I was at that time at altitude of 2500+ meters with no email access, so nearly everything went out of the order for four days until I get back to my computer today.

I am terrible sorry for the inconvenience.

I am looking for a better hosting solution for PSM web and other web sites and web apps I am running. Hopefully we’ll see the change in the next 30 days.

New release: ProStockMaster v2.0.2 for Mac OS X

3

We just have released the new 2.0.2 version of PSM for Mac Os X Snow Leopard. This release follows previous v2.x releases for Windows, switching PSM to work with your (free) Lightburner account. Thus you get the best of the two worlds, browsing and adding metadata locally, while uploading only once for all microstock channels via online software. For more information see release notes  for 2.x versions.

Once you’ve downloaded the latest software, make sure that

  • You have a valid Lightburner account (free signup here)
  • You defined your microstock agencies and/or private FTP sales channels in Lightburner
  • You provided PSM with your Lightburner username and password (Tools -> Lightburner account menu in PSM)

Known issues

  1. Sales stats received from Lightburner.com always overwrite any data you might enter manually. Still thinking how to handle the logic here.

NEW: ProStockMaster 2.0 Beta for Windows

8

I am happy to announce that the long awaited PSM v2.0 BETA is currently released for Windows OS. This is a major software release changing how PSM works with your images. While the user experience and the GUI mostly remain the same, other software layers were significantly modified.

Main changes

  1. PSM now works as a Lightburner.com client, uploading images exclusively to your Lightburner.com account. If you did not get your free Lightburner account yet, go get it now.
  2. It means that now you can upload your images to as many microstock and traditional stock photography agencies as you wish, either by using pre-defined Lightburner.com microstock sales channels like iStock and Shutterstock, or by defining your own private FTP channels.
  3. It also means that PSM will now upload images only once, to Lightburner.com, instead of uploading them N times to N agencies. Thus you save time and bandwidth.
  4. Lightburner accounts are set up for automatic distribution of all uploaded images, no additional action required. Once PSM uploads the images Lightburner will distribute them to the microstocks of your choice.
  5. The IPTC/EXIF/XMP metadata library is replaced by a more sophisticated solution. WARNING: MAKE COPIES FOR ALL JPEGs BEFORE YOU APPLY ANY METADATA CHANGE, particularly because it is an early BETA release of the software.
  6. The database structure was cleaned up and was significantly changed. The new database is incompatible with DBs of PSM 1.x.x. If there will be a huge demand for the backward compatibility I will consider adding a DB convert utility.
  7. Some less important functionality existed in the previous versions is removed to reduce the number of features delivered in this BETA release.

Microstock software v1.9.4/1.9.3 released

1

New release 1.9.4/1.9.3 fixes an annoying issue when in some cases the thumbnails of stock photos were not displayed.
This issue appeared on Windows only, when the browsed folder
a) had non-latin letters in it’s name
and
b) was located on a non-default drive (i.e. not on C:)

The new version is available for immediate download. Any existing application should offer auto-upgrading to the new release.

v1.9.2 released, fixes thumbnails displaying on Windows (non-Latin)

2

New version 1.9.2 fixes following issues:
– Windows: thumbnails for files with non-Latin characters in the file path are not displayed
– Mac: Stock Agencies window pop-us each time the application starts
– Mac: GUI skin automatically changed after the installation

Windows: thumbnails not shown if the file path contains non-Latin characters

0

ProStockMaster v1.9.0/v1.9.1 on Windows fails to show stock photos thumbnails if the file path contains non-Latin characters.
Mac is fine.
We are on it now.

The obvious workaround would be to rename the folders so they will not have any non-Latin characters, or temporary move the files to a different folder with an English name, e.g. C:\Uploads. However, note that ProStockMaster identifies files by their absolute path, so once you move the files to a temporary folder you will have to return them back with ProStockMaster ‘Move’ menu to keep their data tracked by the software. Since at the moment there is no group operation for ‘Move’ this workaround could be a problem for a large amount of files.
