“Application failed: null” on Mac OS X with non-English locale

So far only one problem was reported:
the application fails to install on non-English Mac OS X showing the message “Application failed: null”. This is due to the Sun’ bug discussed e.g. here: http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=444943&messageID=2622985
The same problem can be found on Windows with non-English locale running Java 1.4, but there is the fast fix – just upgrade your Java to version 1.5.
Java 1.5 Virtual Machine for Windows has this issue solved, but Mac’s Java 1.5 still has the bug.
The problem has been isolated and fixed and I will include it in the service pack, which hopefully will be released at the next week. The service pack will also include some new stuff, but this is a subject for the separate thread

Mac package update

The Mac packaging is updated!
Now Mac version is packaged with native Mac bundler and finally ProStockMaster on Mac is delivered and installed like any other native Mac application.
I like Mac look & feel: http://www.prostockmaster.com/images/mac_main_screen.jpg – really cool Mac-native GUI.
So many good things happen!

Second, we have got a nice review in http://www.stockphotographer.info/ by Perry Corell
and I would agree with every word. Well, probably excluding the ‘CD’-related stuff, which has nothing to do with the security – just an issue that shall be solved (we have multiple reports on that, however we have problems to reproduce this behavior)
And the third and the last point is that more and more people request their evaluation copies.
And meanwhile, we started to prepare the Beta release which will include some additional functionality.
What will be there, you ask? Expect some nice surprises!
Security issues

I have been asked multiple times a question like:
> Is it secure to enter my site’ user name and password into your application?
It’s a good question. Since you login to an Internet stock photo site with your user name and password, ProStockMaster shall know these parameters in order to login and properly upload images to your account on selected site. This is the only way the application can securely access your personal account on that site and upload images there.
If you are familiar with any FTP client, like Smart FTP or cuteFTP, it is exactly the same process.
The client asks for your credentials and then uploads your files on your behalf to some FTP site. ProStockMaster follows this approach and uses your credentials for proper login into a stock site and upload your work to your personal account. There is no other use for your credentials.
ProStockMaster hides and encrypts your sensitive information storing it locally, thus providing reasonable (however, not an “unbreakable”) level of security for your personal data. This level of security is comparable with the level of security you would expect to get from a typical FTP client or from your favorite web browser.
